#OMCZ 12

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

Hiya Lovelies,

It was Em's turn to pick the Theme for this weeks #OMCZ

Date Due:  Wednesday, 31st July
Time Due prior to noon your time.
Challenge: 'Bohemian Babe'

Em sent the follow message:

In light of the recent heatwave I'd like my theme to be

'Bohemian Babe'

Big glasses, boho hair, maxi dresses or fringed clothes or accessories, floral head gear, you get the drift..
Release your inner bohemian babe....

Em xx

I looked into my wardrobe and found the perfect dress, then I looked at my jewelry and discovered I own a lot of bohemian esk stuff. This should be easy.

On friday I wore a maxi dress to work and when I got home I decided that was much better than the dipped hem dress i'd originally found.

I seem to find the look i want is much better in my head then on camera. I also found my huge Mango Sunglasses about 10 mins after I got changed which might have worked better:

Tshirt - New look
Dress - ASOS Via Leeds Clothes swap last summer
Shoes: DP
Bag - Mums No idea where it is from
Brooch - Charity shop
Bangles and bracelets assorted
headband Primark

I have no idea what is going on with next doors path?!

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

Hey Lovelies,

Day 27,  A letter to your readers

Dear Lovelies,

I just wanted to let you all know I appreciate the time each and everyone of you take to come to my corner of the internet and read this blog. I love the fact I get amazing comments and class many of you as friends in real life.

I'm sure most of you follow me on all my social media site, I am a member of lots of different forms of social media and I love the interaction I get.

I don't publicly tell people I blog, recently more and more people know but i'm still not ready to stand on the roof top and shout "I AM A BLOGGER"

This might be short and sweet but I love you all and feel very grateful to be part of a community where i feel like I can be myself, speak my mind and truly be listen to.

Much Love

Hey Lovelies,

After my epic catch up I've got behind again. Maybe I was waiting for someone to write something to read.

Day 26, Something you read online. Leave a link and discuss, if you'd like.

This is my Link, Chloe wrote it today, so maybe it was lucky i'm a day behind so i could link to it?

I think that I am one of the 4 people she mentions in the first paragraph.

Chloe speak a lot of sense.

Bloggers

Manchester Bloggers Do Lunch

Sunday, July 28, 2013

Hey Lovelies,

A while ago Amy put on Twitter she wanted to organise a meet up for local bloggers and I asked to be put on the list.

It feels like ages ago since it was organised and yesterday was the day.

Amy had arranged for us to meet for Lunch at The Font Bar. This is a bar I have been to before on a work night out and really enjoyed it, so I was looking forward to going back.

It's down the side of Revs
I walked down Portland Street and came to the Maccy D's and then decided I was lost! I had a vague idea where I was going, the last time we went there, we walked from Quay Street then back to near the Great Norther complex but the bar was much further up than I realised.

I actually walked past it, and in to the Cafe Nero just a bit further up and tweeted Amy to check I was in the right area!

She's booked tabled downstairs and because I'm a bit lazy I got myself two drinks before sitting down. Doctor Pepper and Peach Ice Tea Cocktails. They were some of the nicest cocktails I've had in a while and £2 each! (Bonus)

Downstairs we all had a bit of a chat while we waited for people to arrive and then we got on to the business side of things.

FOOD!

I had the San Fran Club and it was really nice, I also went for the curly fries as i'd been assured they were the best ones in Manchester.

they were bloody good and the sandwich defeated me!

I was at least 10 years older (If not more) than the other bloggers, I felt really welcome and had a good time.

The bar is right next to the railway bridge and the Arches are very arty, I had to take a couple of photo's

After the meal we all jumped on the number 2 bus and headed to the shops. First Stop Space NK. I have never been in before, it's a bit too post for me but it was lovely to see all the high end stuff and I loved the Hot Air Balloon in the window, we also may or may not have seen a celeb in there.

We then headed over to Lush, Lush is a shop I want to like but I just don't seem to get on with any of the products (Insert Sad Face)

We then headed into Blott, this is much more my level. Pens, paper, cute things, bright colours. Stephanie Heaven. I got a pad, a pen and a badge from here (So cute)

I then said bye to everyone and headed home. I had such a good day and was lovely to meet everyone.

Below is the list of the people who came. I think there might be one or two who didn't come. Despite Cat providing us with name badges (Fab Idea) I still did catch everyone's names (Sorry)

The 30 Day Blog Challenge - Day 25

Sunday, July 28, 2013

Hey Lovelies,

Day 25, Something someone told you about yourself that you'll never forget (good or bad)

It has come to light this 30 day challenge actually has 31 challenges! I think that I will do all 31, but I'm not going to change the title of any of the posts but just a heads up so you don't get confused on Day 31 or Day 30A as I might call it! :0)

On to Day 25 - Something someone told me about myself that i'll never forget? There are some odd one. I have a memory for trivial facts, sadly not important ones.

One of my old managers once told me that I have a really good sense of humour but sadly not many people would understand it, which I think is quite accurate as I often find people laugh at me and not with me.

Benefayre

Benefayre - Manchester

Saturday, July 27, 2013

Hey Lovelies,

Sorry for being a bit quiet, I haven't been feeling great this week, nothing bad just not my usual happy self.

I got an email last week inviting me to Benefits, Benefayre in Manchester this weekend. As I was going to be in Manchester anyway I decided to bob over. It was a bit odd being on my own and kinda wish i'd been with my friends but hey ho.

The Benefayre was for the Charity Refuge and was set up like a retro fair. Hook a Duck, Mascara Hoopla, Nerf the Lemon.

Before you went in you bought tokens for £1 each and the activities cost around 1 - 2 tokens.

I only bought 2 tokens to start with and my first go was Nerf the Lemon. I don't know the real fairground name for this game (Shooting range?) I won some Porefessional stuff.

I thought about my 2nd token for a bit and decided to buy a third token to "pay" for a makeover (2 tokens)

I really wish I had more change on me as I'd have oved to have a go on the Hoopla and i'm not sure what the Oxygen thing was.

I decided on a make over as one I was on my way to a blogger meet up without wearing any makeup and secondly everyone walking around from that counter looked amazing!

Everyone working the stalls were lovely and it was such a good atmosphere.

I didn't catch the name of the girl who did my make up but she was really nice, friendly and talked me through everything she used. I was happy to let her have free rein with my face and I love what she did.

I loved my make up so much I went and bought one final token to use the ....
..... PhotoBooth! Sorry the popcorn cart was too cute not to include.

I love a good photo booth! but this picture of me that I stolen from benefits FB page, show's how boring I am. Most other people went in twos or threes and looked like they were having fun! I was honest!!!! Sadly I just froze and didn't know what to do :(

Artful readers club

The Artful Readers Club #7

Saturday, July 27, 2013

Hey Lovelies,

Wow July, I'm pretty sure I start each one of these post in this way. I will try and do better for August!

This month I read Tom Holt's In Your Dreams.

I read this a few weeks ago now and I'm still not sure what I make of it. I think I need to read The Portable Door first which this book refers back to quite a bit.

The book is set in an office where an Intern gets assigned to his new department - Pest Control. Only it's not quite cockroaches and wasp nest, the company he works for is run by Goblins (I hope i've got that right) The pest control department isn't his first choice but it's him or his girlfriend so he accepts the roll. His girlfriend seems to get the better end of the deal and is assigned to the Hollywood Office.

Paul's new boss has to go on assignment and Paul is left to hold the fort with the help of a dwarf who has to juggle his day job of visiting the bank and helping Paul Control the pests.

Things aren't quite as straight forward as all that and things start to go wrong and Paul has go save the day, with the help of his Car Monika, an old flame from Primary school (or is she) and the head of the companies Mother who may or may not totally have the hots for him!

It's a bit of an odd one really, I read it in 3 days so I can't have been awful but I still don't think I liked it or enjoyed it. Maybe I'll try and find The Portable Door then re-read it? Maybe?

If you have read any of the other books, I'm in no doubt you would love it but I still kind of feel there is something missing.

I got this book from a charity shop and at the time I thought it was the 1st book but I was wrong.

Art is still WIP I have a background page as as I type this I have had an idea for the main page so watch this space.

Hey Lovelies,

Day 23,  Things you've learned that school won't teach you

What School won't teach you? How to apply make up? I still don't know? Colour Matching? I really don't know the answer to this one?

What do think?

The 30 day Blog challenge - Day 22

Saturday, July 27, 2013

Hello Lovelies,

Apologies I am a bit behind, If you read Day 20's post it might give you an insight into what's been happening in my life.

Day 22,  Rant about something. Get up on your soapbox and tell us how you really feel. (a pet peeve, a current event, a controversial topic, something your husband or roommate or neighbour or boss does that really ticks you off)

My Pet Peeve is bus passengers. I am a bus passenger I get up to 4 buses a day and what annoys me is people who get on the wrong bus, or who ask a million questions to the driver about where it stops. Especially when they don't know the name of the places they want to go to.

I also get an express bus and the number is quite clearly marked with a BIG X and a scrolling message "LIMITED STOP". Yet every night people get on and try and get off where ever they want. They scream at the driver "BUT I PRESSED THE BELL". They argue, they rant and tant. In a lot of cases the driver does let them off, which is all well and good if it is a genuine mistake but over the past 2.5 years I see the same people get on and demand to get off where ever the hell they like. In some cases we've even told the person when they've got on we know they are on the wrong bus.

I can now also tell people who are on the wrong but and try and tell them indirectly that they are on the wrong bus usually before we by-pass my local town centre by strangely enough going down the bypass!

When I go any where and have to catch the bus I research, I plan, I ask people who I know are local to the area and ask then what buses I need. I look at websites, I look at Maps and I do this because of how annoyed I get on my express bus home.
I know that it isn't always possible to plan and people mis-read signs and admittedly the express number is similar to the usual (I stop everywhere number) one letter instead of a number.

But when it is the same people week in week out, day in day out it rubs me up the wrong way! If you follow my personal twitter you will see my daily tweets to my local bus company!

RANT OVER!!!!

The 30 day blogger challenge - Day 20

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

Hey Lovelies,

Onward to day 20

Day 20, Get real. Share something you're struggling with right now.

I always think the things i'm sharing on this challenge are rather trivial or frivolous but i guess i don't want this to be too dark or anything, but what i'm struggling with at the moment may be a bit TMI so feel free to tune out now.

What i'm struggling with is being a girl, woman, female what ever term you like. For over 12 months I hadn't had a "proper" period, I have constantly had what I would consider day 1 or 2 of a period pretty much every day since last May, constant ovary pain and just not felt myself.

I have been steadily gaining weight and I just generally don't like myself very much, whilst maintaining my happy outward appearance of a confident plus size blogger.

Last October when I went to the doctors about something else (ear infection knowing me) I broke down crying and asked the doctor for help. I want to feel normal whatever that may be. I feel like I can't have a relationship because who would want me in my current state. I don't even want me.

The doctor wasn't very sympathetic, she weighed me and tutted, took my blood pressure and sighed then tutted. There wasn't anything they could do. I wasn't eligible for the pill as weight and BP both too high, fair enough, plus the pill would only really mask the symptoms and not actually do anything. She mentioned there were options but unfortunately for me she said with a smirk I wasn't eligible as I wasn't trying for a baby. One of these days i'm going to lie and say I am!

I then said, I felt like I just needed one good period to excuse the phrase flush me out. She then said she would prescribe me some Norothistrone but it could have some risk and would cause a Very heavy period, then in theory I should have "normal" periods for a few months but then I might need to go back for some more.

I toddled off to my local boots and got the tablets, then lost them! Then I found out that doctor who was a Locum had been removed from my doctors as they'd had a large number of complaints. When I found them again I was too wary to take them, I also did some googling and found out they are not meant to be given to obese people! HELLO, side effects could include heart attacks. Oh why is google available for medical things.

A couple of weeks my friend who is in a similar PCOS situation but not quite the same was round and found the tablets again and said thats what she was on, she takes them 20 days a month and had been on them for a couple of months. I had a 10 day course so decided to take them!

I took my last on last Thursday and came on on Saturday and when I say came on I mean ON!

I am in so much pain, I wish I hadn't bothered and feel weepy, sleepy, moody, emotional, messy and queasy! No heart attack as yet. It's been so warm and I am sleeping with 2 hot water bottles, I am on 2 hourly pain killers alternating Parra and Brufen and I'm praying it is over soon! It is only Tuesday and no sign of any let up as yet.

I have gone through 4 packs of towels and almost 80 baby wipes in the last few days! The only good thing I| can think of is I have opposite to watch the adverts tell us and I usually get cold at the time of the month and I haven't had my usual Time of the Month Tooth ache that I usually get.

Apologies If you have got this far but thank you for reading.

The 30 day challenge - Day 19

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

Hey Lovelies,

Day 19, Five of your favorite blogs and what you love about them

Apologies, I fell asleep at 8pm last night and didn't post but I couldn't not do this one.

While I love you all and would love to link to everyone in the plus size blogging community plus some of the other genres of bloggers who I follow, talk to and follow.

So 5 bloggers in no particular order:

Rebs - Possibly my style twin, I want everything she owns and do own quite a lot of the same things, she is also an all round lovely person and fab organiser of fattie events and gives super hugs.

Nikki - Another wonderful blogger who I am looking forward to meeting at Plus North (in a few weeks, we can officially say weeks now can't we?)

Rachel - I want to own everything Rachel does, from her impressed shoes collection right the way up to her headscarves and every dress in between, also another blogger I've met in real life and another all round lovely lass.

Lolly aka Laura, amazing brooch maker and wearer of fab fashions

Beth This isn't the first time i've included Beth in this challenge and I possibily should have picked someone else but she is too nice not to include.

Now while these are the 5 i've highlight there are many more of you i'd have loved to include starting with everyone else taking part in this challenge:
