What's in My Make Up Bag - Updated March 2015Tuesday, March 03, 2015
It's only been a month since I last showed you what was in my make up bag, in that time things have changed.
The zip came off my old make up bag and I replaced it with this beauty from Primark it was only about £3 and I love the spot / stripe nautical theme.
It has two compartments and while it's quite small it holds rather a lot. I shocked myself when I emptied it to take these pictures.
I also took the opportunity to take out the things I haven't been using but still carried round with me.
Base I go from someone who either wears no base or a full face of make up, how do I get the balance right?
I complexly used up the foundation I'd been using which I think is a first for me. I've replaced it with a Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation in 3. Cool Beige. I originally bought 5. Honey and I'm somewhere between the two. but not the number 4. Warm Beige. I'm quite impressed with this. I've been using it for about 2-3 weeks and I do need to use a primer or I feel like it exaggerate my pores.
I've never been one to use much in the way of concealer but recently I've been using two Maybelline The Eraser Anti aging eye treatment and concealer. This only comes in two colours Light and Nude but I love it. It easy to work with and blends without going cakey. I'm also really liking Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Warm Medium again this only comes in four shades and I think I should have got the cool medium. I'm going to have go through the testers again next time I visit a stand.
If you saw my empties post for February you will have seen my smashed powder. I have a few others but decided to got for a hat trick and get Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Powder. Another product only available in three colours.
Eyes Wearing eye shadow during the day is a bit a new territory for me.
For my eyebrows I'm using a mixture of three products. The Essence eyebrow pencil in 02 Brown has been a well loved product for months. It's a good colour for me and the lid has a little brush to help soften the look. I'm also loving the Maybelline Brown Drama in Dark Brown, at first I was unsure and it was a bit messy but I've got my technique down. You just have to be careful not be heavy handed. My lasy eyebrow product is one I dug out to use at weekend and had forgotten how much I liked it. I got the So Susan Dual Brow Powder set in a beauty box and it's really easy to use.
For years I've worn black mascara and never feeling like I needed to venture outside that comfort zone. I watched a couple of YouTube video's and black/ brown mascara was mentioned and the look was a lot softer and more natural. I didn't want to spend a fortune so again went to Collection and grabbed a Longer Lash Lengthening Mascara in 3. Black / Brown. The first thing I noticed was the smell. It doesn't smell bad it smells of nostalgia how mascara used to smell in the 90s. The wand is fairly traditional and it does occasionally go clumpy. It's thickened up quite a bit in the month I've been using it. I really like the texture and the look but I keep a eyelash comb near by just to get rid of any clumps.
Lips I always worry about my lips being too bright at work. For years I've gone make up free and I always think people will comment if I go all out with a full face. No one ever has but I'm still happier make up free at work which might seem odd for some writing beauty posts. The truth is I love make up but I'm a little afraid of it.
I've been chopping and changing every few days as I can't find a colour I'm comfortable with. I've been using a Revlon Lip Butter and find it sits much nicer over the Essence Transparent lip liner. My Illamasqua in Mix which I wore over the Essence Nude lip liner. The only other lip product I'm carrying round with me is the Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Pencil in 210 Keep It Classy. The texture of this is really smooth and the colour is nice but a little deeper than I expected initially. It also smells really nice, a bit fruity.
I'm pretty sure I don't need to carry all this round with me but I'm not ready to let go!
