The Glamour Spring Edit

Friday, April 10, 2015

If you're a regular reader you will know that I am a massive fan of the Latest In Beauty boxes and I've had quite a few now. I'm trying not to buy beauty boxes and I've cancelled all my subscriptions. I will still get the odd one off box.

For me the main selling point is knowing what you will be getting (with the exception of exact shades of some products eg. Nail Polish & Lip Gloss)

The cost of the box is £16 inc P&P and they say the value is £99. This box also includes and iPad / iPod subscription to Glamour Magazine. Sadly I don't have either of these so I can't use it.
EDIT: The box includes a print and iPad subscription. I was in a bit of a state when I opened the box. I'm so please a couple of people pointed this out as I would have missed out!!! I've signed up for the print copy and can't wait to get my first copy which I think will be the June edition sent out in May.

I have to say Glamour is one of the only magazines that I buy and read. I tend to only buy magazines if they have decent freebies on the cover and it's rare that I read them, I would use the subscription if it was available on Android.

Moroccanoil Hydration Mask

As we all know by now I'm growing my hair and I was quite excited to try this mask, but I haven't got round to it. It recommends to use on washed hair and leave for 5-7 minuets. I'm not sure I have the patience to leave it that long in the shower and If I get out the shower for 5 minuets I won't want to get back in.

This is really just me being Lazy isn't it?!

Approx Price £7.65

Nuxe Crème Fraiche® de Beauté Mask

I've had this before and I wasn't sure about it but once it was use up I missed it. I feel like it made a real difference to how my skin looked.

My skin is really oily but at the same time it's dry and flaky (in the same places at the same time) I found that it soaked in really quickly. It says to rub in ant excess after 10 mins but I never had any but I was left with flakes of dried product. It does say you can use toner to remove the excess product so that's how I' going to use it thing time round.

Approx Price £18.50

Running total: £ 25.15

Kiko Long Lasting Eyeshaddow Stick

I've been wanting to try a few Kiko products for a while but have never got round to purchasing anything from them.

This is a very shimmy but really lovely to wear. I've only really used this as a primer on the lids before using my normal shadow and I feel like it has helped to keep my shadow on all day.

The colour I received is 07 Golden beige. It's quite gold toned but I like it so far.

Approx Price £6.90

Running total: £32.05

Beauty UK Brow Kit

This was a bit of a surprise to me, the colours seem much darker then they are in use. At first glance I thought this would be too pale for me but I'm finding the top left colour a good match for me.

I'm not the best at filling in my eyebrows and I don't really understand when I use the wax? Is it first or last?

I've only used it a couple of times but I quite like it so far and budget friendly.

Approx Price £3.99

Running total: £35.14

Elle Saab Perfume Sample

I'm not sure about this. I don't hate it but I wrinkle my nose when I smell it. I really need to try wearing it to see how it sits on my skin.

I really don't mind getting perfume samples. I don't own many perfumes and I rarely wear it so a small sample usually lasts me a while.

Approx Price £1.50

Running total: £36.64

Model Co - CRÈME ROUGE CHEEK & LIPS

I'm really, really surprised this costs £14, I've not heard of Model Co before and from the packaging I was putting it at the budget end of the scale. I haven't tried it yet as I didn't realise it was for lips as well as cheeks. I don't think I could pull this off as a blush but as a lip colour it could work.

Approx Price £14.00

Running total: £40.64

Rimmel Oh My Gloss

This is my only real disappointment. I'm not a huge fan of lip glosses but it's extra glittery and sparkly and I don't think I would wear it.

I love the packaging and I like the wand but the glitter is a bit much for me. Even my inner magpie isn't overly excited. I'm sure for the right person they will love it.

Approx Price £5.49

Running total: £46.13

Revlon Colourstay Gel Envy

So far I've only use the colour polish and it's a really good nude (nude for me) colour. It goes on easily but it only lasted about 24 hours. I am very clumsy and I did my nails at 2am Tuesday night and fell asleep before my nails had dried properly.

I will try this again with the top coat and see if it makes a difference.

Approx Price £6.99 each
£13.98

Verdict pretty good value. I'm not sure if i'm missing something as the website says the value is £99 even counting the glamour magazine subscription in which is approx £16 a year for digital only It comes out at £76.11.
EDIT: The glamour subscription is the print and iPad copy which is £12 a year (or £24 if you buy a copy from a shop each month)

Total value taking the subscription at £12 a month is £88.11. or £110.11 if you take it at £24 a year to buy glamour.

It's amazing value and the only thing I won't use it the lip gloss It's worth getting.

I got my prices my googling and mainly use the first price it gave me rather than looking at official RRP

If you're new to beauty boxes I would recommend trying these boxes. At least you can see what you'll be getting and can see if you will use the items.

  1. Steph didn't want you to miss out- the subscription is for a print edition too! It's the first time they've offered a print sub as well as the iPad/iPhone version. I think that's probavly where the value comes from they prob count it as £24 worth of sub @ £2 per mag.

  3. Fab thanks for letting me know. My head was all over the place when I opened the box and I didn't fully read it. The last couple of boxes have had discounted subscriptions I think but only for iPad and I didn't look properly.

I've signed up now. It's £12 for an annual subscription but I can see how they might cost it as £24 Which would bring it up to the £99

Thanks again for letting me know I'll have to go back and edit my post xxx
