Hey Lovelies,

Sorry going back to cheesy quotes as titles. Quote by - Mike White

A few weeks ago I went to the Marisota pop up event in Manchester Read about the event here and I was sent a couple of items to try for myself.

I try to avoid black, it's not a happy colour for me and I only own about 3 all black items and one of those is a vest top.

I saw this dress at the event and everyone who tried it on looked fab in it. I decided it had plenty of colour on it and it is pretty out of my comfort zone, chiffony, black and a tunic top.
Mark Hayes Floral Tunic  dress
I went for the 24 as it is a tunic top and I know my belly takes up a lot of space and I didn't want to be in danger of splitting the seams! (don't laugh this has happened recently. Luckily I was still at home!)

At the event Mark was talking about this dress, saying he really liked it (I should hope so it's one of his!) I digress he was saying it was good because it would look fab in spring with leggins, summer with bare legs and sandles and in winter with black tights.

As you can see I went with 2 of this suggetions, the sandles are my mums. I couldn't find my sandles they are a tad too narrow!

I'm planning on wearing this to a wedding in November with tights and black wedges, but I think it will get a few more outtings between now and then.

There is enough roon for me to sit down without splitting the seems and I'm really glad I went against what I usually would buy (spots) and tried this.

This Item was sent to me free of charge but all opioions are my own.

Growing my hair 2014

How I dry my hair

Saturday, April 26, 2014

Hey lovelies,

I like reading these kind of posts so I thought I thought I'd give one ago.

As you know I'm trying to grow my hair so I'm having to actually dry my hair for work and I thought i'd give the straighteners I won at #Fabb Manchester a run while I was at it.

My hair straight from the shower.

These are the main products I use.

My hair gets really knotty. Over the years I've tried loads of de-tangling products and I think the Lee Stafford Breaking Hair spray is the best for my hair, it doesn't leave it with loads of build up or any greasiness.

V05 plump it up volumising lotion. this doesn't add loads of body but it does make my hair fall a bit better than without it.

Lee Stafford Flat iron mist I use before the straighteners and a fianl finish with V05 smooth does it.

I might have a thing for pink hair products!

The other bits. Hairdryer, this is a very cheap (under £10) from superdrug. It isn't fantastic but gets the job done and for the price is pretty good for me.

Grippy clip (is there a technical term for this?)

Wide tooth comb - primark
Tangle teezer
vent brush
Hedgehog brush

Step one: Quick spritz with de-tangler and a run through with the wide tooth comb.

My hair does get really knotty so I spray with the plump it up and run over it with the tangle teezer.

I start with my hair gripped about half upand use the vent brush for the first few mins but I then switch to the hedgehog brush for finishing.

Once my hair is dry i spray the flat iron mist and fire up the straighteners.

These have a digital disply and you can use the buttons on the inside to choose the heat setting. I tend to go with the hottest.

I'd say these don't get to a full 230. I could still touch my hair straight after running the straighteners over my hair. (I can't do this with the ten year old GHD's or my curling wand)

It has also given me a few kinks but I think this might be my technique!

Over all i'm pretty happy how my hair turned out, I don't mind that they don't get to a full 230 but my hair is pretty well behaved for being straight. if your hair is more resistant to being straight they might not be for you.

If you're curious about the change of outfit mid photo's I was taking OOTD photo's in between. Told you I could multitask!!!

What Is The Best And Worst Thing About Blogging?

Is meeting so many amazing people, I've been blogging on and off for years. I had a photo a day blog, then an diet blog. I finally found plus size blogging and right away I wanted to meet people IRL. I wanted to go to events and I did. Some of those people I now call friends, whether they want me to or not.

Worst, the bitchiness and catty comments that seem to be flying around recently oh and troll. I  haven't been on the receiving end as yet (Touch wood) but i know a lot of people who have.
What is the most embarrassing thing you've ever done?
Too many to mention, hang around me long enough and you're bound to find one or two things

What would your superhero name and power be?
No idea but i want to be able to wear big pink pants on the outside of my costume I don't care

What will you be wearing at Blog ON?

Well this is a tough one as I had bought a new daisy print swing dress, however it is about 3 sizes to small on the first try on so at this moment in time I have no idea.
What’s your favourite blog post you have written this year so far?
The one about the markets at old granda studios markets - blogger is playing up and I can't link to it. I wrote it on 12th April I think if you want to look through the archive

If you choke a smurf what colour does it turn?
I'm pretty sure they turn invisible

While you are here would you like some cake?
Cake, cake oh aye i'll have a slice or three.... did someone mention wine!!!

Face of the day

Make up of the day - Easter Sunday

Friday, April 25, 2014

Hey lovelies,

I thought I'd do a quick post on the makeup I wore on Easter Sunday. It's rare for me to wear a full face of make up. I just don't have time but I am trying to wear it a bit and I am getting better.

The main reason i'm posting this is because not only did I actually take some pictures I got a compliment from my gran at how nice my make up looked!

Rimmel Fix and Perfect primer. I love this stuff. this is my second tube. I'm not one for repeate purchases so for me to re-buy I must love it. I do have a question about primer. When you put it one are you meant to wait before putting foundation on or should you put your foundation on right away? Any advice would be much appricated.
ELF Eye primer - I've only ever used three eye primers, this one, an MUA one and an Urban decay one and I can't tell the differnce between them. I don't know enough to say if it's any good or not and I haven't noticed if my eye make up stays on longer or not (I mess with my eyes a lot so tbh I don't know why I bother)

I forgot to use concealer. The one i've got is a bit too light but I think it's a highlighter as well.

Foundation- another rimmel one. I can't remember the name but I really like it. I struggle to get the perfect foundation and this one works for me.

I used my real techniques sponge to apply. The sponge is nice to work with but it has split after one or two uses.

Powder Bonjouris, I bought this one a whim. I had one a few years ago that i really liked but this one i'm not sure about but I have only used it a couple of times.

I used the gold real techniques brush to apply.

Blusher - Rimmel stay blushed. this is a really nice creamy blusher. a little goes a long way. i tend to dab it on with my fingers and blend it with the point end of the real techniques sponge.

Eyebrows - HD Pallet - I got this in a beauty box and it's brill. there are 3 shades from medium to almost black. I find it to be really natural looking on me.

Eyeline - Essence pencil, I love this eye pencil. I have a few but it's the one I go back to. I'm not sure if you can get essence over here. I got this one in Berlin and my mum is under orders to bring me back another one from her holiday to spain.

Eye shaddow - MUA matt. I got this with the intention of wearing it for work as i find every other pallet i have has glitter in which for me is too much. I'm glad I got it and sadly it's far too under used.

Mascara - L'oreal manga eyes. This is also from a beauty box and I really like it.

Lips - I was going to wear the sleek gloss but at the last second I went for a MUA red.

A slghtly blurry selfie but this is my finished face.

what do you think?

#OMCZ 30 - 1 Item 3 ways

Wednesday, April 23, 2014

Hey Lovelies,

This months theme was choosen by Erin from

"Blogging about fashion while living on a budget can be difficult. There is a lot of pressure to keep up with trends and be the first to display a relevant piece. Because it does not suit my finances or lifestyle to constantly purchase new items, I love creating multiple looks around one piece to really stretch the life of my wardrobe. I challenge all of you to create a 'One Item + Three Ways' look to either showcase an item through multiple seasons, or for multiple occasions."

I had so many Ideas but the item I wanted to wear kept being spilt on before I could take a photo, yes I am that clumsy.

Sunday morning I decided to use the time to take my photo's and I was so organised but sadly my laptop appears to have died. it switches on but you can't open any applications. Roll on payday I might have to buy a new one (recommendations welcome - i'm thinking under £200)

Anyhooo back to the topic in hand:

My one item is a new t-shirt from Newlook it is £12.99 but I got it on a 2 for £12 deal (bonus)

Look 1 - Meal out with the girls - Skirt Yours clothing last year

Look 2 - Out shopping - Jeans Tu at Sainsburys

Look 3 - Work Skirt Pink Clove

How did I do?

Hey Lovelies,

I don't really have an awful lot of stuff back in my room yet (I really should start bringing things home from my grans) but I am still trying to get organised.

A couple of weeks ago I decided to have another look on TK Maxx at their acrylic storage. My local store has had quite a few differnt options in over the past few months but it has never been exactly what i'm looking for. I'm not sure I know what I am looking for.

I spotted this caddy with room for lippies, a small drawer and a few differnt compartments and decided it was along the right lines.

I don't like it when they don't put the RRP on TK Maxx price lables. I like to know I've got a bargain.

What did appeal to me was having the little drawer, I'm not sure why as it really is small.

It fits nicely on my shelf and has quickly been filled with makep.

It's still a work in progress getting it exactly how I need it to be.

I have put hair clips and grips in the drawer along with my sleeping headband and I have found myself putting a bit of make up on before i leave for work in the mornings, even if it has only been a lip colour or a wave of mascara.

Stefi's got a brand new coat

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

Hey lovelies,
It was time to ditch the parker and get a new coat. It’s still a funny time of year weather wise as it’s so cold in the mornings but quite warm at home time.

I’ve been looking for a while and haven’t been able to find one I like. I bought myself a £20.00 yours clothes voucher from living social for £10 and decided I’d put it towards a coat.

You know me I like a bargain and went straight to the sale section. I got this one for £25. The voucher couldn't be used on sales Items without buying something full priced, I got a pair of £3 earrings to allow me to use the voucher. Including delivery (collect in store) I paid £30. (£20 really counting the voucher)
I’m still not sure if I like the coat. When I opened the bag it had a couple of pulls in it and I keep creating more. It’s is fairly thin but warm in the mornings and not too warm going home in.

I don’t know if it’s just me but the shape of it keeps changing. I don’t know how best to describe it but it’s bag lined (I think that’s the right term) and doesn't seem to be sewn down so the fabric and the lining twist a bit.

It also doesn’t have a zip or buttons which I know is the design but sometimes I feel like I need something to hold it closed. I’ve tried it with a belt round and I’m not sure how I feel about that.

This coat is very different from anything I’ve had before so I think it’s just that I’m not used to it. I’ve been wearing it for a week now and I don’t regret keeping it so that must count for something

What do you think?

Book Swap

Blogger Book Swap 2014

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

Hey Lovelies,

A little while ago Beth did a shout out on twitter and facebook to see if anyone wanted to take part in a book swap.

I love reading and thought it sounded like and interesting idea. I was paired up with Louise. I had never spoken to her before and we exchanged a few emails about what books we have read recently and some of our favourite books.

We then agreed to exchange books to the value of around £10 at the end of March. I'm not sure if Louise has done a post or not but I sent her:
I picked the books because they have been some of the ones I have enjoyed and I've read the help about 3 times.

Me before you is a chick lit book but it is one that I loved, to be fair i've enjoyed pretty much every Jojo Moyes book but this is a clear winner for me and I choose twelve years a slave as it was the last book I'd read and we chatted about it on email.

Louise sent me three books and a packer of magnetic book marks (which I will take a photo of)

I've already started reading Hunting Lila and I am enjoying it but it's one of those books I have to keep putting down, I don't want it to end but I'm afraid to know what happens next. (It's not scary, well not yet!)

I have also read a couple of chapters of The Dark Heroine but I really should only read one book at once.

Have you read any of these? What is your favourite book?

Magnificent 7th - April 2014

Monday, April 14, 2014

Hey Lovelies,

This is my belated Magnifcent 7th post. This months theme is something you never wear.

Errrr well I've never worn this before because it's new. However it is something I'd never normally wear as it need ironing! Or it will once it's been washed!

I've been looking at this dress one and off for a few weeks it's from my ever favourite crazy clearance shop and it was £10.99 but they had a 25% off event so it was an even better bargain.

My mum said she's seen it on line for £13.99. It reminds me a bit of a nurses uniform but it's really comfy and touch wood none of the buttons popped open on me!

The fabric is quite thin and the light does shine through it a little bit, but I always wear leggins rather than tights / bare legs so I'm not too worried about this!

I'm really happy with my bargain although i'm not looking forward to having to iron it!

Latest In Beauty

My latest Glamour Beauty Box

Sunday, April 13, 2014

Hey Lovelies,

I recently treated myself to the Latest In Beauty Glamour  Beauty Edit box. I'm really pleased with this box and it is the second Glamour Box i've had.

What I like best is knowing what will be in the box before it arrives, and it is a nice treat to get.

They are also beautifully wrapped and would be great as a gift for someone, I got my mum the last box for Christmas and then I got myself one as I didn't want to be left out!

What did I get? Invisibobbles, L'oreal Manag eye mascara, Daniel Sander eye liner, Percy & Reed hair mousse, Cheeky nail paint, Burt Bee's lip balm and Rituals shower gel.

I haven't tried everything in the box yet but I will use 99% of it and for me it is money well spent. I was looking at this nail polish in superdrug the day before I ordered the box and I was really glad it was included. It's not a colour I would have gone for but I really love it.

The eye line is one I won't be using and not because it's blue but because my mum snagged it out of my hands as soon as I opened the box. I don't know if she's used it yet, I must check with her at some point.

The lip balm is another product i'd been looking at. I buy lip balms use them three times and leave them in a coat pocket or handbag and never use them again.

But this is one I'll be keeping handy as it really seemed to improve my lips after a couple of used (errr and yes I did lose it and found it in a coat pocket yesterday)

Again I haven't tried this as yet but I have used another one of their shower gels and if this is half as nice I'll be happy.

This is posibily the only product I won't use, I buy hair products and I have a vanity case full of them but I just don't use them.

Mascara, it's so important to change regularly and again this is one i'd been looking at getting and couldn't decide if I was being sucked it or not. I've used it a couple of times and I really like it.

It was a bit gloopy on the first application so I needed to wipe the brush but I think that is the case with a lot of products. I didn't let it put me off and this is one I will be re buying.

Invisbobble, not suprisingly I haven't tried these yet. Well I have I got half my hair in a pineapple on top of my head, but thats just between us!

I'm excited for my hair to grow so I can use them, I thought how will they be invisible in my hair but a quick google search revealed they are not designed to be hidden in your hair but they are designed not to leave a kink in your hair when you take them out!

I've given one to a girl at work to try and she said it seemed pretty secure. I wore it as a braclet on my way into work so I wouldn't forget to give it too her and it didn't cut off the circulation and it went back to almost it's original size once I'd taken it off my wrist.

I don't think I'd subscribe to a regular beauty box, especially if it was a "surprise" box but depending on the contents I would get another Glamour box.

Old Granada Studio Markets - Makers Craft Market

Saturday, April 12, 2014

Hey Lovelies,

I had a day trip into Manchester today, I had an email about a Market market being held at the Old Granada Studios on Water Street and decided as I had the day to myself to go along and see what it was all about.

When I arrived in Piccadilly gardens there was a Nescafe stand handing out free cups of coffee and I grabbed myself a cup which was a nice welcome.

I work in Manchester so I am there every day but some times when you go as a tourist you see things you wouldn't normally notice. Today I noticed this wall saying "piccadilly gardens"

It was pretty chilly in Manchester and i'd only worn a denim jacket, dress and leggins so after a quick scan round I grabbed a coffee, which was from the MCR Coffee Co. They have a shop on Oldham St across from where I get my bus and i've never been in but I think I will be going in as the Flat white I had was very nice (This is also my first takeaway flat white)

There is going to be a few markets over the coming weekends each with there own theme. This one was "Makers Craft Market" which really appealed to me.

The first stall I looked at was called I used to be, it's run by Vicky and she welcomed me warmly and talked me through what she does (she also does craft classes and workshops). Everything is reused and upcycled and very pretty. I love the tote bags with the corrie theme.
I Used To Be
I mentioned I was a blogger and she introduced me to her friend and stall neighbour Rachel who runs Three Little Peas. Hand made one offs. They were both lovely and really made me feel happy and I treated myself to a hair clip (the Navy & Pink flower in the top right photo)

Three Little Peas
I had a wander around and some of the stall holders were really lovely and had a warm welcome for everyone who stopped at there stall. My inner magpie drew me to Ness Donnelly's stall, the photo's don't show it but some of the beads have glitter in them. Others are bright neon are all pretty unique. She also has hand stiched note books, cards and pictures. I got myself a brooch. Grey glitter and neon dots.
Ness Donnelly
The next stall really made me want to get a dog, I know I can't but wow! "Handmade gifts for you, your home and your dog"

The grey and pink hearts in the little basket were perfect for hen do's they said bride to be and hen. Some lovely products. There were also some crochet poppies sadly I didn't get a photo of one but I might have just ordered myself one from her Etsy shop.

I was facinated by the crockery on the next stall, it's a really interesting design and like nothing i've ever seen before. It's currently made in Maccelsfeild but they are planning a move to Salford very soon. Everything is designe to fit into each other.
Steven David Graham
There really was a massive array of differnt types of products and the Happy Sloth was another stall selling prints direct from the Artists, they have cute prints, some more contempory works and animal mash ups, the Bunny Bee is my favourite and I'm slightly disturbed by the penguin giraffe. I also hear there is a porcupine camel in the pipe line!

They also had a 3D verion of of of the drawings which was amazing. I kept using the word amazing and great but they really were!

The Warrior Chick is another upcyle stall. Re-use, Recyle and how fab are the staw book marks.
Warrior Chick

I really wish I'd taken more money with me as Angel May Vingtage had spoon rings and bangles, they really are beautiful and a little bit differnt.
AngelMay Vintage
A stall they really captured my attention was Raspberry Ruffle, skirts in amazing prints. Sadly she only makes them up to a size 16 at the moment but I loved the stamp print and map print skirts. I could see me wearing one of them, I did buy myself two brooches! (I really should stop)

I got the robot and the dove on a purple spot backgrground.
Raspberry Ruffle.

My favourite thing from the next stall are the wire pictures, they are facinating and another thing that I haven't seen before. They also make one off and unique items of jewllery.
Lucy Elisabeth
This market really appealled to my inner magpie and sadly I didn't get to speak to every stall and I didn't get pictures of all the stalls which was a shame as thinking back there were quite a few more stalls than I've taken pictures of.

The next few pictures are just of some of the stalls, sadly unless it's in the picture I don't know the names of the stalls but I'm sure with the power of the internet we can find out (if they are your stall please let me know and I will credit you)

Can you see an Oldham cup?

I'm seeing things I missed when I was there in person. I love the hair grips from this stall.

I could have a tea party every day!

Another later spot is the camera pendant. I love this.

I could have happily bought every framed print of this stall, I regret not getting the Cat in the top hat print, I think it was £7. It's one of those stalls that every time you looked you saw something else.

Ursula Grice
I didn't really look at this stall just snapped a photo but looking at the picture I wish i'd spent more time looking at everything.

It's safe to say I had a lovely day, I've had a happy buzz around me all afternoon. I've also had a look through all the business cards I collected tosay and followed a lot of the stall holders and I will be back.

Despite the cold and the wind there was a really great atmosphere and there were people there who had been on the Corrie set tour and others like me who had gone purely for the market.
If you want to visit here is a list of the upcoming events:
Sunday 13th April - Art & Design Market
Saturday 19th April - Bite food market
Saturday 26th April - I Love Fashion Market (I'm hoping to go to this one)
