BlogOnMSI is in the morning, I've probably left this a bit late but better late than never!

Share a recent picture of you - A selfie I took today. I'd just had my hair done. it won't look like this tomorrow!

If you had to describe yourself in three words…….
Fat (It's ok I like the word), Just me.

How long have you been blogging and what made you start?

I started my first blog in 2008 This is the first post, that blog hasn't been updated since 2012. I started it as part of a photo challenge called HSMS. I didn't really know what a blog was but as I say in that post I wanted to start a photo blog so I did.

I then set up a second blog which was about weight loss, then about 4 years ago I discovered Plus Size bloggers and deleted all the weightless posts and roughly six months later I set up a new Gmail account and rebranded to become Seeing Spots.

What was your favourite TV program as a child?

We've recently been talking about kids TV at work and I have a long list. Programmes that stick out are Clarissa Explains it All, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, The Queens Nose, Art Attack (but not the big picture)

Something interesting you might not know about me is . . .

I'm not a parent blogger. (ok so not interesting but it's a question I always get asked at Blog on, no I don't want children and as Laura always says it's not a parent blogger conference)

What is the weirdest food you have ever eaten?

This is a tough one, I guess my weird food combo of choice would be fish 'n' chip crisps dipped in choc dip chocolate. Don't knock it till you've tried it.

What was your biggest fashion faux pas?

As a child of the 80s/90s pretty much all of it, I had a velvet floppy hat in an attempt to be Six from Blossom. Shell suit, it was very tasteful black, pink and green. Cycling shorts with a pink neon stripe worn with a black tshirt with neon people on the front very similar to the CBBC logo of the time.

What are you pet peeves?
Lateness (Ahem yes I know this post is going live less than 24 hours before BlogOn)

Who would be your 3 perfect dinner party guests (dead or alive) and why?
Another tough one, I don't know I'm not overly sociable. I think Freddie Mercury would be one, The Queen and maybe Rylan Clarke.

We always play a game whilst watching come dine with me what would you make if Lizzie and Pip came for tea?

If they made a movie of your life, what would it be about and which actor would play the part of you?

People always say I look like Beth Ditto, I'm not sure if this is just fat girl blindness but I'll admit to fangirling when she followed me on Instagram.

If you could live in any sitcom, which one would it be?
Melissa and Joey, I want Melissa Joan Hart to be my BFF

Name a famous person you have met
The last one was probably Lisa Riley, but I did see Audrey from  Corrie trying to park her car outside work a couple of weeks ago.

Which social media platform best describes your personality and why?

Instagram, I'm a very visual person.

What picture do you have on lock screen on your phone / computer?
I don't think I've ever changed the lock screen on my phone, I don't really see the point and I quite like the one that came with my phone.

How many pairs of shoes do you own?

I'd say 50ish pairs (probably more)

What period of time from the past would you most like to have lived?
I'm not sure really, maybe the 1600s or to be a teenager in the 80s

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I'd love to go to South Africa or back to Australia now I'm old enough to appreciate it and I'd also like to visit my cousin in NZ.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Say Yes to the Dress.

What is your favourite tipple?
GIN! (girls, drink, feck, nuns)

If you had a magic lamp and a Genie, what would be your three wishes
Patience to accept lateness
The skills to be tidy

Book Review

Book Review - The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty

Sunday, April 03, 2016

We've hit April and I've finished my 4th book of the year. Less we say about book 3 the better (Was terrible IMO, but has quite good reviews on Goodreads **Shrugs**)

I thought I'd do a quick review of the 4th book I've finished this year, I'm going to do it in the more free flowing style that I did the last one is rather than the quite formal way I did last year. Please let me know which works better for you.

The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty

I'll start with my over all rating and that is a 3 for the official good reads score but it's more a 3.5.

The book follows a group of Women in a Sydney Suburb who have a common connection of the local primary school and hidden secrets of their own.

Cecilia is the Australian Stepford wife, she's a Tupperware consultant and her life is as well organised as her pantry, until she discovers a letter only to be read in the event of her Husbands death.

Rachel seems like any other grandmother, she's still mourning the loss of her daughter 27 years previous and her Son and daughter in law drop a bombshell on her.

Tess who has the perfect reason to return to Sydney when her Husband and Cousin confess their love for each other, has to come face to face with old memories and an ex boyfriend who might have more to tell than first appears.

Over all it was a good book, I would have given it a higher rating if I hadn't guessed the secret after the first few chapters and had almost plotted out the rest of the book in my head. There was also quite a few unnecessary parts to it.

It felt like it was aiming to be Jodie Picolt style book, but for me it was missing a little something missing to make it special.

One of the markers I use to confirm my enjoyment is did it make me laugh? Did it make me cry? Did it do both? I feel like I raise a chuckle once or twice, it did tug at a heart string but I didn't cry. I wasn't even close.

I think a lot of people would enjoy this and I would read more books by the same author and I liked it enough to want to talk about it.

Disney Bounding

Disney Bounding - Snow White

Friday, April 01, 2016

If you haven't seen my Youtube video yet you might not know that I've started a new collab series with Clare, Leah, Victoria and Tanya based on the Dinsey Princesses.

On the last Friday of each month we will be posting a video based on the look of different Disney Princesses.

We're running this up to December and as there are far more Princesses than months we've got a choice of two princesses each month.

April 2016 Snow White or Cinderella

Right from the off I was going to do Cinderella, I've recently discovered a love for the 2015 live action Cinderella film. I must have watched it 5 times and I've just watched it again this afternoon. Lilly James was very well cast in my opinion and I love the cartoon version as well. It has to be my 3rd favourite behind Aladin and Sleeping Beauty (I'm only counting films on our list of princesses as we all Know Robin Hood is the greatest Disney film of all time).

I have been googling Disney films and makeup inspiration and I came across Disney Bounding. This was something I was vaguely aware of from watching the Sprinkle of Glitter and Bits and Clips Disney Vlogs last year but the more I looked online, the more I wanted to try and add and element of this to my videos.

As i'm getting back into blogging I thought I'd do a post about the clothes I chose to wear.

I realise that true Disney Bounding involves a trip to a Disney Park but for the collab I'm going to try.

If you don't know Disney Bounding is similar to CosPlay but rather than wearing costumes you wear clothes with a nod to Disney. It tends to be regular clothes that are bought as standalone items rather than made but some people do really go to town and part of me wants to do that.

For the purposes of these I'm going to try and use my own clothes and not buy anything new specifically for these posts but i'm not excluding buying accessories.

The more I researched the more I came to the conclusion Snow White would be more fun of the two and I wouldn't have to buy anything towards the look.

My initial plan was just to do the top half as that is all you'd see in the video's but if I remember to do this for the up coming videos I will try and do a full outfit.

I took these pictures before I did my make up as I was losing light. Next time I will try and be more organised (plus the clocks will have changed which should be in my favour)
