Beauty| Boots Essentials - Fragrance Free & Cucumber Range

Tuesday, February 28, 2017

It's time to start mixing up my skin care and make the break into spring. (It's on it's way there is no denying it)

I've used up most of the products that featured in my winter skin care post and I decided to check out the Boots essentials line. I had some Boots advantage card vouchers which included one for extra points when I spent £7 on boots branded skin care.

Boots Essentials Fragrance Free

The Boots Essentials range is one that I've used a number of times in the past and I've always like it. It is the budget line and most products are £1.50 each with and offer of 3 for £3.00.

Moisturising Cream

This is a very thick cream and I haven't used it yet, It seems like it will work best as a night cream.

Facial Toner

A nice refreshing toner, this seems quite gentle and is very refreshing. I've only used this a couple of times at the moment.

Eye Make Up Remover Lotion

I don't think I have used a product like this for a long time. The consistency of the product is quite thick and worked well to remove all my eye make up quickly. It's not my preferred type of eye make up remover.

Boots Essentials Fragrance Free

Boots Essentials Cucumber

Initially, this is the only range I was going to buy from as I've heard really good things about it. When I looked at the range of items I realised I didn't need one of everything from the range and it seemed like a good idea to buy from both ranges to test them out.

Eye Make Up Remover Gel

Again I haven't use a product like this before and I love the idea of it. It is really cooling and I love how it feel on my eyes. It doesn't remove my make up as effectively as I would have liked. I do think this would be good to keep in the fridge to cool tired eyes especially in the summer months.

Eye Gel

This is my favourite product in the essentials range. It's cooling and soothing and I'm really enjoying using this.

Facial Toner

Another gentle and soothing toner. My skin feels nice and refreshed after using it and I think like all the other products in the cucumber range it would be great kept in the fridge.

Boots Essentials Cucumber

I would be happy to buy these again and I think they would be good to take away on holiday where you didn't want to take expensive products and for the price I know I wouldn't mind leaving these behind to save weight.

Primark Fripperies| Bedroom Accessories and Faux Plants

Saturday, February 25, 2017

My room was redecorated about two years ago now, but I'm still trying to get it perfect.

I have an issue of too many things. I own too many clothes, I own too many beauty and make up items.

I also buy too many fripperies and I can't stop myself. I have been buying more and I'm extremely happy with what I've picked up in my latest haul.

The think Primark are so good at it is, quickly getting on board with current trends. FriYay has been all over the internet and I rejoice at getting to every Friday. It might be wishing my life away but now I have a plaque to celebrate with.

I'm wondering how often I can get away with sharing this on Instagram? Best of all it was reduced to 50p.

Primark FriYay hanging plaque pink

Hanging Heart

I subconsciously collect hearts. I hadn't really thought about this until after I got home from my recent shopping trip and now realise I have a good number of hearts in various sizes (I almost said shapes and sizes but they are all heart shaped)

The cut out detail of this is very cute and it was also 50p.

Primark cut out white heart hanging plaque

Oh Look Another Heart

For £1 I couldn't leave this heart photo frame behind. I also like the quote inside and I think I will leave this as it is for now.

The photo hasn't picked it up, but the scalloped detail is gold paint and I like that little touch.

Primark white heart hanging plaque to glam to give a damn!

Faux Succulents

I have been looking at getting some real succulents and while in theory they are easy to keep, I know that they wouldn't survive in my care.

There is quite a lot of choice in Primark at the moment and each of these were £2.50.

I think I will be picking up a couple more of these in the next week or so.

Use 7 By Spring 2017 | Update One - February 2017

Wednesday, February 22, 2017

In January I started a new panning challenge.  Use 7 by Spring - 2017. I picked out 7 products that I like, rather than products I want to get rid of. This may be a little different to a lot of other panning challenges that I've done.

I have so many products and I have made the decision not to save things for best.

My seven items are:
  • Seascape – Soothe Body Butter RRP of approx. £20.00 for 175ml
  • V05 – Smoothly Does It RRP Approx. £4.00 for 100ml
  • Revlon – Lip Butter 035 Candy Apple RRP £7.99 for 2.55g
  • Soap & Glory – Heel Genius RRP £5.50 for 125ml
  • Essie – Grow Stronger RRP £8.99 for 13.5ml.
  • L’Oréal – Pure Clay Glow Mask RRP £7.99 for 50ml.
  • Balm Balm – Lip Balm RRP £5.50 7ml.
Bonus Item- I'm taking the full year on this one:
  • Maybelline – Colour Tattoo in Crème de Rose RRP £4.99

I'm pleased to say I have finished two of the products in February and I have use all of the products at least once.

The two products that are now empty are Balm Balm, lip balm and L'Oréal Pure Clay Glow mask.

Balm Balm – Lip Balm RRP £5.50 7ml.

Empty - February 2017. It is not just a lip balm and can be used as a multipurpose balm. I have used it a few times on my elbows and around my cuticles. I wasn't keen on the scent which is rose and geranium. They are some of my least favourites and together it would usually be a no go situation. As I received this in a goodie bag I decided to try it, knowing I could pass it to a friend if I didn't get on with it and I did like it. Would I buy it again? No, however, if I got one in a beauty box I would use it. I'm not sure why I took the completed picture with the lid on, but trust me this is totally empty.

Use 7 by spring panning challenge Balm Balm Lip Balm

L’Oréal – Pure Clay Glow Mask RRP £7.99 for 50ml.

Empty - February 2017. I enjoyed using this mask. I have previously said it is my least favourite of the three in this range and I do stand by that. It is a lovely product, for me, I would have preferred it to be smooth and not have the gritty exfoliating properties. That may have taken away from it's "Glow" quality. My skin felt soft, clean and fresh after I'd used it.

I used the max between one and two times a week and didn't notice a difference in my skin depending on how often I used it. I would happily buy this again if it was on offer at around £5/6 but I don't think I would buy it full priced. I would also prefer it to be in a tube rather than the glass container. I found it quite messy to apply and I did drop the safety seal lid on my bed when I first got it and I did stain. I was also worried about dropping the glass pot in the skin or bath and smashing them (sink, bath or pot). I will admit I'm clumsy and this may not be an issue for most but while it may look nice out on a dressing table. I'd prefer practicality over style.

L'Oréal Pure Clay Glow Mask

I'm pleased to have completely used two products. I think the difference has been, I'm using products I like. Products I want to use rather than products I want to get rid of.

No Progress

I have been consistently using all the products I picked for this challenge apart from one. It will be no surprise to anyone to discover the product I haven't used it the Soap & Glory Heel Genius. It sits by my bed. I don't even have an excuse why I haven't used it.

Some Progress

The Essie Grow Stronger Nail Strengthener has been used a number of times but there didn't seem to be very much progress between the original photo and now so I haven't included it but I'm hoping there will be a decent change by the final next month.

The other product with no viable difference is the Maybelline Colour Tatoo. This is a year long item.

Visible Progress

The remaining three items do all have visible progress, this make me happy and I wanted to give an update on how I like these products.

Seascape – Soothe Body Butter RRP of approx. £20.00 for 175ml

Body Butter is a product I rarely use, I have lots of it and this is a beautiful product and I have no reason not to use it.

I have managed to remember to use this almost every time I've had a bath or shower and it doesn't take as much effort as I think it does.

This product has a lovely fresh scent and does smell exactly like the lavender plant outside my house. The product is very thick and the texture reminds me of sudacream. It does take a bit of effort to work the product into the skin but it is worth the effort and it is nice to use before bed as the lavender scent is very relaxing.

I'm just under halfway through this product and I'm confident I will have used it by the end of the project.

seascape body butter

V05 – Smoothly Does It RRP Approx. £4.00 for 100ml

I've made some really good progress on this product. I have used it every time I've washed my hair and while I don't always (Rarely to never is more accurate) use a hair dryer to dry my hair. I have noticed a difference and I think I will miss this product once it's gone.

It's a medium thick cream that you put into, towel dried hair and I have had this for a long time. It is time to use it up and I will be looking for something similar in the coming weeks.

V05 Smoothly does it frizz free creme

Revlon – Lip Butter 035 Candy Apple RRP £7.99 for 2.55g

A product that follows me round. This was in last years Use 16 in 2016 Pan Challenge and I didn't manage to use as much as I would have liked.

I have been suffering from a cold sore which has stopped me from using this. I can see some progress.

I've worn this at work and at weekend. The formula of this is beautifully soft and it is easy to layer the colour and build it up into a more intense colour.

Revlon Lip Butter Candy Apple

All Product

I wanted to show all the products together, so I have something to benchmark against at the end.

I've enjoyed seeing progress of products that I like and I'm confident that I will used 2 or 3 more of these by the end of the challenge and have good progress on 1 or 2 more.

All the products i'm using in my use 7 by spring challenge

My overall aim of this isn't to run through products quickly. It is to use products I like rather than saving them and them going to waste. It is also to find products that don't work for me.

What's in my Makeup Bag | February 2017

Saturday, February 18, 2017

Weekly Makeup bag

This year instead of doing a year-long pan challenge I’m planning to change the items in my “on the go makeup bag” every few weeks.

I theory I should have time to do my makeup at home before work and I did start doing my makeup took box series on YouTube. However, over the past few weeks, I’ve been finding sleep is winning and I’ve gone back to on the commute makeup session.

The Bag

My makeup back is from Primark and it was £3, I love the rose gold glitter look, but what I like even more is that the glitter is enclosed in plastic so there is no trail left behind. What sold this to me was the star on the zip closure. I also like the shape of the bag and it holds more than I expected.

Face Products

Primer – Laura Mercier Foundation Primer

One of my favourite primers, it makes my skin feel nice and helps keep my foundation in place all day. It’s not a cheap option and I’ve been lucky to have had a few from beauty boxes. I am tempted buy it full priced but there are so many other things to try.

Foundation – Collection Lasting Perfection

I’ve almost decluttered this about 3 times, but every time I decide to give it another chance I start to like it again. It’s one I will only use for a couple of weeks at a time to prevent boredom. I do think I’m close to finishing this. It is quite full coverage and blends but the colour match isn’t quite there. Say that this is the third one of these I’ve bought and I would buy it again in the future.

Concealer - Maybelline  The Eye Eraser

This is a favourite under eye concealer. It’s one I go back to repeatedly. The downside of this product is that it only comes in two shades Light and Nude but it is one I would recommend to try if you have a similar skin colour to myself. It has a sponge applicator built in and I use this to draw a triangle then use a dry blending sponge to well blend it in.

Powder – L’Oréal BB Nude Magique

I have been using this consistently since October and I'm not a huge fan of it. It's not a bad product by any stretch of the imagination. There just isn't that much about it. It's not that I dislike it but I don't feel that it does all that much for me.

Bronzer – Milani Hermosa Rose illuminating face powder

This is my lazy girl’s ideal product as it is essentially bronzer, blusher and highlighter all in one and I don’t have to carry multiple products with me. This might be one of the most beautiful looking products I own or it was when it was new. It almost makes me sad that all the flowers have almost rubbed out.

Eye Products

Eye Shadow - Maybelline Colour Tatto in 91 Cremé Du Rose

This makes a great base before adding eye shadow, I find it helps keep my shadow on longer.

I have been using it as an eyeshadow and I like how it looks by itself. It also means I feel like I've made more of an effort than I have.

Mascara - Bare Minerals, Lash Domination

This was one of my Love Me Beauty picks, a couple of months ago and I'm really glad I picked this up. The tube is very small, but the brush is full sized. I was very surprised the first time I opened the tube as on first look, it didn't look like the brush came from the same tube.

The twisted shape of the brush worked well to apply the product and it lasted really well but wasn't difficult to remove. (I use an oil based / duo-phase eye makeup remover)

My only negative for this sample is the size of the handle made it hard to hold and I did drop it a couple of times. This wouldn't be an issue with the full size and I am very tempted to get a full-size product.

Eyebrow Pencil - NXY Micro Brow Pencil

My all time favourite brow product and I have used a few over the years. The pencil is very thin (Micro you might say) and because of this, it is very easy to get a natural looking brow. The pencil also comes with a spooly on the opposite end which makes it a handy product for on the go makeup application.

Collection Extreme Pen Eyeliner

I have struggled over the years to apply liquid eyeliner and I find this pen is easy to work with and it lasts well on me.

Kiko Gel Eyeliner Pencil

This is a fairly new product to me and I like it but I find it can be messy to apply (That may just be me) and I feel like I need to take my time but it does have the smudger which comes in handy.

Seventeen Kohl Pencil

I like the Kohl type pencils the best and as eye pencils go, this works well for me. It's a good affordable option if you're looking for a drug store black eyeliner.

Lip Products

Lipstick - Revlon Lip Butter, Candy Apple

I only picked out one lip product to use this time as I'm trying to pan this lipstick before the end of March. Sadly I've developed a cold sore and I haven't been able to use it.

This is a beautiful lipstick, it has a light formula but I find I can build the colour up into a more opaque look if I want to.

I love knowing what products people enjoy using. Do we have any of the same products or what do you think of the products I've picked out to use?

2017 Goals | Update 3 - Focusing on Pinterest

Wednesday, February 15, 2017

My Pinterest History

February saw me focus on my Pinterest account. It has been neglected in the past.

Looking back over the last two years (they only years I've recorded stats since starting blogging in 2008)

I gained 138 followers in 2015 and in 2016 I only gained 34 new followers.

2017 Blogging goals update 3 February

Choosing a Target

When it came to working out my 2017 targets I took the average of these two, added it to end of December 2016 total then added to it making it a "stretch target"

My Workings:

138+34 = 172

172 / 2 = 86

86+570 = 656

Rounded to next 100 would be 700, then to make it stretch I added 50.

The target I set for 2017 was to get to 750 followers and I thought I'd done myself a mischief at the end of January as I "tidied up" and deleted some boards.

I'd forgotten people can follow boards individually rather that your main profile.

My figures dropped by quite a significant number but I ended January having gained 97 new followers.

Stretching a Stretch Target

As part of my February Focus I decided to try and meet my end of year target, As I'd had such good growth in January, I only needed 62 new followers and thought it would a push but worth trying.

So far in February, I've gained around 70 new followers. (up to 10th February)

What have I done differently?

I've joined in with some Facebook groups, I've been tweeting my Pinterest link to the point where I must be annoying people (sorry) as well as searching for new people to follow myself by following some of the people whose pins I'm pinning.

Another thing that I've been doing is to make sure I add my YouTube Videos and blog posts to my account. In addition to this, I have been trying to take better pictures and using Canva to make what I think are Pinterest friendly images to share.

I have also joined a group board and have only shared 4 pins so far. Are you a member of group boards?

On the 10th February, I updated all my board names to what the board is about. Previously my board had "fun" and "quirky" names such as "With all my..." and I pinned pictures of heart-related things. This board is now called "Heart | With all my..."

Below is a further example of how I've re-named my boards.

How I name my Pinterest boards

Re-focussing My Plans.

For the second half of the month, I'm going to focus on going through each board and making sure they have relevant pins on them.

I get into lazy habits and dump everything on one of the boards in the recently used. I always mean to go back and move then but looking through my boards it doesn't look like I have ever done that! I will also update the board descriptions as I don't think any of my boards have them.

I'm also planning to check through my links to make sure they are still active as I've deleted some of my older blog posts and I've got into the habit of pinning from my phone so a lot of my links are mobile ones and I think that I need to change those to be standard links. In theory by blog should auto display a mobile view if opened on a device.

Blog Goals and Plans

My other aims for the month were to post twice a week on my blog and I have been doing that. I'm itching to post more often but my sticking to the two posts I can make sure I'm editing pictures.

One of my major achievements for the month has been clearing out broken links, it's been on my blog admin things to do list for about 6 months and I spent around 3 days clearing them out. I also deleted a few old posts as they were just terrible and I'm not too worried about that. I did think of trying to re-edit them but in the end, I decided to face the situation and press that delete button.

I'm re-running the broken link check every few days but I'm making it a monthly task to check and clear any newly broken links (They break for various reasons. A blog address expires, a website removed linked address from their websites - This happens a lot with links to retail websites).

Two other things that I have done are update my blog template. In January I added a free template and wasn't happy with it, it was better than the original blogger template but I didn't like it. I'm not 100% happy with what I've got and I'll be making a few more tweaks in the next week or so. I can't work out how to use the header that is shown with the template to show which is frustrating but I do quite like the simple header that I have at the moment, so I'm not too worried about changing this right this second.

What I would like to do is to centre the Bloglovin and HIBs 100 badges, this shouldn't be too difficult and I'm assuming I just need to add a line of code to say equal centre but I haven't worked out what to add yet. EDIT: I have been able to centre align the Bloglovin one but not HIBs.

The second thing that I have done is to update my pages; contact, about me & disclaimer. I haven't made too many changes but I can strike it from my ongoing to-do list.

YouTube Goals and Plans

YouTube has been neglected. I started well posting three times a week. However, I've been poorly and didn't film anything so I don’t have any content to put up.

Another area I'm struggling with is having light to film and I need to make the most of my weekends and get a plan of things to film and sit down and edit so I can get back into the swing of things. My channel is very small and I don't earn from it so it's not the end of the world that I'm not putting up content.

Photo Style Advice Needed

One of the area's that I'm struggling with, is deciding on photo styles. I'm using Canva to create and edit my Instagram photos and create blog graphics. What I can't decide on is should I pick one template and always use that for all my posts or is it ok to pick a different one in almost every post?

How Do I Think It's Going

My overall feeling about my progress is that I'm really happy. I know it might seem that I'm making a bigger deal than needed over these goals but I'm hoping by setting targets and being strict.

I'm hoping my being strict now I can get into good habits and look back at my blog and feel proud of it.

If you've made it this far well done and I would really appreciate it if you'd follow me on my Pinterest Account.

Sales Bargains | Waterstones Notebook, Letter Writing Set & Book Marks

Saturday, February 11, 2017

Waterstones Stationery Sale, N is for Notes, Note book, Letter Writing Set, Book Marks

My Main Weakness

One of my main weaknesses is stationery. The number of notebooks that I own is ridiculous. I do use a number of them, however, there is a vast proportion of them which are far too pretty to ever spoil with ink.

Secondary Weakness

If you are a regular visitor it will be no surprise that another great love of mine is a bargain. If it’s meant to be they will reduce it and there will be an extra discount on top. I mean some things are just meant to be. Don’t get me wrong, if I need something or can’t live without an item. I am willing to spend good money.

Accidentally Finding the Sales Section

In the next few weeks, I’m going to be doing a book swap with a few of the girls who are part of the Collab Girlies Series over on YouTube so I popped to Waterstones to get some ideas and bumped, literally into a table full of reduced items. Some of the items were a little random, to say the least, others were still expensive but I grabbed a couple of little beauties and only spent around £5.00.

So Tweet

My first and easiest item to pick out were the packs of bird shaped sticky notes. I love sticky notes and go through lots of them. They had been reduced to 90p and I think they are adorable. These will get used as well.

Waterstones Stationery Sale, N is for Notes, Note book, Letter Writing Set, Book Marks

How much would you pay for a bookmark?

I have a confession to make, I’m a page folders! I own book marks but I often lose them or forget to use them. On the sale table, there was a vast number of Mr Men and Little Miss book marks as well as the Waldo one pictured. This one really tickled me and as they had been reduced to 50p, thought I’d get a couple as they could be held back for a gift. These went through the till at a whole one pence! The girl on the till looked a little perplexed and after staring for a good ten seconds and then did a little shoulder shrug, and carried on scanning.

Getting overcharged

The 1p bookmark was a lovely surprise, however, these bargains did throw her tilling up abilities out of sync.

I’d also picked up the N is for Notes notebook and a floral letter writing set each had a sticker price of at £1.50, but she put them through reducing each by £1.50 off the RRP, instead of the real price.

Over all, I should have paid £4.82 and it was just over £5.00. I thought about querying it but the receipt was confusing. I also thought they might make me pay the other 98p for the bookmarks so I kept quiet!

My Favourite Style of Bag | Have Best - Backpack from TK Maxx

Have Best Cat Print Backpack from TK Maxx

My favourite style of bag

When it comes to every day bags I have always favoured a backpack / rucksack style bag and while I’m at it I’m in favour of wearing it on both shoulders. I picked up this Have Best bag from TK Maxx last weekend for £12.99. There was no RRP and that is one of the things I always like to check for when I buy at TK Maxx. I love a bargain, it’s in my nature to always check to see if I am getting a good deal.

Have Best Cat Print Backpack from TK Maxx

When I was at school it was all about the backpack and you could only wear it on one shoulder and there was also an awful trend of used the opposite strap to the shoulder you wore it on. Remember that?! Is it any wonder there are so many 30 somethings with sore backs (that I know)! Did anyone else do that?

Carry my life with me

I like to carry my life with me so I need a decent sized bag and as a rule I like a lot of pockets especially an internal pocket to keep my tram pass and house keys in. This backpack has a large padded pocket that will be good when I need to bring home my work lap top. I do try and avoid that at all costs but that’s the reason they’ve given me one.

Have Best Cat Print Backpack from TK Maxx

It’s the inside that counts

There is also a good sized front pocket but no inside mobile phone pocket or zip compartment which I hadn’t noticed. It’s not a huge problem but the bags I have been using both had these and I did use them so it’s a case of adjusting where I keep things.

Getting caught in the rain

The fabric is oil cloth and I can confirm it is water resistant as I got caught in a heavy rain on my way home on Monday night. It is quite reminiscent of Cath Kidston bags, however when you look at the ones ok the website now you can quite easily tell them apart.

Other options

They did have a few different prints in TK Maxx last week. Including Sausage dog, floral as well this cats bag. I did think about this purchase for a week as I’m trying to get a more serious work wardrobe but I thought about this bag every day and knew was going to get it if they still had them in stock.

I love the colours, the print. If I can't have a real cat. I can have a cat backpack! It's comfy to carry and I can fit a lot in it. Yes I would prefer an inside zip pocket but for £12.99 I'm more than happy with my new bag.

Love Me Beauty - Subscription January 2017

Love Me Beauty Subscription, Product Pin

Love Me Beauty Subscription

I’ve been getting the Love Me Beauty subscription for a few months now and it is one of my favourite subscriptions I’ve had, and there have been many over the years.

This is a monthly service and including P&P it is £13.95 per month.

What I like about this subscription is that you get 60 credits each month. Plus, bonus credits every few months (or when you buy a bulk subscription). With the credits, you can “shop the Edit” and choose the products you want from a list up to the value of the credits you have.

Products have a credit value from 10 – 30 credits assigned to them and it is up to you how you spend them.

I like to get 4 products each month but I never feel like I’m missing out and I do now have some bonus credits in the bank which I’m using a few each month to spread them out.

As well as the loyalty bonus credits, you can buy additional credits which will sit on your account and don’t have to be used in within the month. You can also spend this outside of your monthly credits but there is additional P&P to pay.

Monthly Makeup Bag

Each month your selected products are sent in a makeup bag. This is a nice touch initially but now I have no need for any more. I have used them for travelling to take jewellery and make up. I would like an option to stop getting the bag and a reduction in price by £1 could be an option.

I used my monthly credits to pick out the following 4 items:

Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm 25ml

I’ve previously had a sachet sample of this and like it, however the sachet wasn’t enough to know if I wanted a full-sized product. I do remember liking the product and it has had good reviews online which made me pick this up.

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Sample

One of my favourite ever primers and I picked up the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer two months in a row from Love Me Beauty. I’ve been lucky enough to have this is a few beauty boxes over the last couple of years and I would buy a full size of this product as I feel that it helps to keep my make up on all day.

Caudalíe Glycolic Peel Mask Radiance In 10 Minutes

I love face masks, especially in winter and anything that promises radiance in 10 minutes sounds good to me. I’ve tried a few Caudalíe products recently and I’ve been very happy with them all. I’m looking forward to trying this.

Omorovicza Budapest Deep Cleansing Mask

This isn’t a brand I was aware of before, I’m looking forward trying this, the first thing I noticed about this is the quality of the packaging, which is a heavy, frosted glass pot. This is an expensive brand and that is reflected in the look and style of the packaging.

MUA Re-Haul

Friday, February 03, 2017

Back in May 2015 I shared my MUA addition collection and I thought it was time to revisit it by way of a re-haul.

I rooted out all the MUA products I've still got and honestly there must me more of it somewhere as I feel like I had so much more.

I know I had to get rid of one of the pallets (undress me too - I think) as I managed to smash the black shade and it went everywhere.

MUA Makeup 2015 Rehaul

What Do I own now?

Undress me - I do like this but preferences undress me too which I am tempted to repurchase.

Matte pallet- not a massive fan of this . The pigmentation just isn't there for me.

Various lipsticks- these are great £1 each and some lovely colours. I just don't wear them. My favourite shade isn't pictured and that's shade 11. It's a really.good day time colour and I've had 2 of them as one snapped.

Lip Chubby - the name of this has worn off but I'm not a massive fan. It's a very bright pink and the crayons  itself is unstable and I think it's snapped at the base.

I really don't use any of these products very often and since deciding to do an MUA rehaul I've visited the stands in various superdrugs but haven't been tempted to buy although I have recently seen someone mention a foundation from them but do I really need any more?

What was in the previous post?

Undress me too -love this sadly I smashed the black shade and decided to throw it away as it was too messy.

Eye liners - basic khol /kajal liners good for the price

Mega Volume Mascara -I really don't remember this.

Eye Primer -really liked this and I might repurchase if I see one.

Eye Brow Kit - this was great. For £3 it's worth a try. I only stopped using this as I got some other eyebrow  kits in beauty boxes

Mossaic Blush - I'm not sure I ever used this and I have no idea where it is.
Undress Your Skin Primer - a huge dislike for this. It's very silicone-y and I could feel it all day. I don't feel like it helped my make up stay on.

Matte Foundation 03 Gentle fawn - amazing foundation. A good match to my skin at the time. I would be tempted by this again.

Lip Liner - red - not great from my recollection but not terrible either. It was very soft

Various Nail polishes - rarely used. A lot were great some needed a few coats to get the colour to be decent

Various Lipsticks - great value but sadly under used by me!

February Goals - Advice needed

Wednesday, February 01, 2017

In January I picked out some of my goals and decided to focus on them.
The area I really focused on was growing my social media following. How did I get on?

February 2017 Blog goals Update

I succeeded, I initially set a year end target for each platform, then I worked how many followers I need to gain each month to reach these targets. I then engaged with people. I tried posting less on my blog, but joining in with facebook groups and I hit and exceeded all my targets:

YouTube: 14 ahead of target
Google+: 9 ahead of target
Bloglovi: 25 ahead of target
Pinterest: 84 ahead of target
Facebook: 36 ahead of target
IG SW: 119 ahead of target
Instagram: 100 ahead of target
Twitter: 74 ahead of target

I know a lot of this growth is new year, lets grow our following but I'm hoping that by getting ahead now I can keep up momentum. Numbers are not the be all and end all for me but it's nice to see all of these platforms growing. I believe I've had more engagement, I've not measured this in any way but I've had more mentions, notifications etc than in previous months and i'm not going to lie, it's a really light feeling.

In February I'm going to continue to try and grow and I've decided to keep the same year end targets and work out based on where I am now how many new followers I need to stay on target.

Now February is here I'm shifting my focus to producing better content. I'm still planning on posting less.

My Blog and YouTube Schedule will be:

2 posts a week on this blog. Wednesdays and Saturdays.
3 Videos a week on my YouTube channel. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

The areas I want to focus on are better pictures, which I will edit. I do feel like I'm going to go down the classic Beauty Blogger flat lay format and may have bought / dug out some props! (do people hate this? I quite like it???)

Putting out better quality Instagram pictures and using IG as a way to promote my blog. Often it's coffee, random picture and the odd Gin & Tonic picture. Tag in brands as well

I'm going to also try and put out a separate image for IG, Facebook and Pinterest. I need to decide if I want to pick one template and use it for each platform and always use it or do I do something different for each post. Any advice is welcome.

Also do you always produce specific sized pictures for blog posts? I've been either using whatever size my camera gives them or just uploading the IG /Pinterest / FB edits and I think this is something I should spend some time deciding on.

Thumbnails for YT will also be made. Again I need to decide if I stick to one template for every post, I did that for a long time but it was all text but now me and Canva are friends I think I will be using that for the most part. Again input welcome.

The other area of focus inline with The UK Bloggers group will be looking at Pinterest. Learning how to use it and focus on growing and interacting on it as a platform. I would love to meet my end of year target by the end of February and only have 62 to go. It's a fairly low target so it could be achievable, looking at January growth.

Those are my February aims and goals, nothing too dramatic but I think it's all achievable. A lot of these things I've been trying to do for a while but I think I need to knuckle down the details and work out what works for me and stick with it. I know I can always change but for me I need structure and I often spent so long planning I don't have time to do. I think it is worth spending that time planning. Help me out internet, what do you like seeing on blogs. What do you recommend?

I'd also love to know how you're getting on, have you succeeded so far & any plans afoot for February?
